Picture Just from the Christian perspective, all the priests and monks are identifiable from their outfits. As kids we knew the difference between Franciscan, Dominican, Coptic, Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Syrian Orthodox and Christian Brother. Most of the Christian holy sites are run be the Franciscan Order dating back to Malik al-Kamil (the Egyptian Sultan during the Crusades) who gave St Francis dominion over the Christian holy places after meeting with him in 1219!

Picture The old city of Jerusalem. El Aksa Mosque is the black dome on the left (it was silver plated when we lived there) and the Mosque of Omar is the Gold Dome on the right. It houses the Threshing floor of Arunah that David bought to build the Temple. Later years Mohammad ascended to heaven on that spot on his white horse Barak. Jesus overthrew the moneychangers tables here. As you can see, this spot is a major focal point for 3 major religions!

Picture Abandoned and locked up when we were kids. Naturally we would climb the walls, explore the rooms and go to the top of the Minaret tower. Kids!! I found out in the 90's that my Friend Faisal let a group to restore the mosque. I did not tell him of our escapades :)

Picture Naturally we'd go to the very end where it was pitch black, about a 2 minute walk. There was a base to an old wall we would dig into to see if we could discover something. Never occurred to us we could cause a tunnel collapse. Kids!!!
