So - the riders were mostly women. This is a good thing if you are a 71-year old guy, but further - it makes for a fun, less competitive, mellower bunch. More about that later, I'm sure. We stay in a town called Selva,almost middle of the island,1500 people,
The basic layout was done by the first Governor, James Oglethorpe, showing a repetition of four cellular wards, each containing eight city blocks around a square (four residential blocks in the corners, each split by a narrow lane, plus four smaller commercial blocks east and west of the square. The 24 parks mean there are very few through streets through the city (8 to be exact) making it excellent for walking as all traffic needs to slow down to do a right, 2 lefts and a right to go around the park. Also they help cool off the city in the summer :)
