Museum H. L. Hunleywas a submarine of the Confederate States of America that played a small part in the American Civil War. The Hunley demonstrated the advantages and the dangers of undersea warfare. 4 The Hatch
Picture The first time it sunkin 1863 it had 5 crew, the second time 15 crew. Charleston was so eager to break the blockade they tried a 3rd time and was able to sink the ship the USS Houstonac, the first ever by a submerged vessel!. No Yankee ingenuity here as is was southern engineered :)
