This was J. Paul Getty's private house built in 1954. It was based on Herculaneum’s Villa dei Papiri, a Roman villa buried in the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79. Opened to the public in 1974. An amazing collection of Greek and Roman antiquities
