1 Goodyear F4U Corsair
Museum Made famous by "The Black Sheep Squadron" TV show. Designed by the Chance Vought Company of East Hartford, Connecticut. However, during the war, many aircraft were produced by different companies, so Goodyear produced this one. There is one of these Goodyear models in Lake Washington that had an aborted takeoff from the Sand Point NAS. Fun fact: The "Gull Wing" feature was to hit the fuselage at 90 degrees so no wing fairing was needed which also gave it less drag/more speed. My friend Bill's dad was the Aerodynamicist at Vought, and he enlightened me on this.
